Postcard, Bréda Street, Paris, c. 1900
The Story
The Bréda
The Bréda bag stands in a deliberate lineage with the Lorette, extending both its aesthetic and its imagination. This subtle nod evokes an entire chapter of Parisian history, where name, place and silhouette are intimately intertwined.
Bréda refers to the street of the same name, once located in Paris’s 9th arrondissement and now vanished under a different name. In the Paris of that era, Rue Bréda was a vibrant, slightly illicit hub of social life, famed for its concentration of Lorettes: independent, elegant, and enigmatic women who embodied a modern, liberated and deeply urban Paris.

HOW TO WEAR

The Leather Moment
GRAINED CALFSKIN LEATHER
The quality of leather lies in its grain, which is why we only use full-grain leather.
Our grained calfskin stands out for its fine grain and subtle sheen, revealing the natural characteristics of the hide. Its supple yet resilient hand, combined with a dry, springy touch, makes it an easy‑care leather that softens beautifully over time.

Germaine Guérin Wrapping
Since the 1950s, our boxes have drawn inspiration from the iconic colours of the Paris Métropolitain and its famous entrances designed by Hector Guimard: the muted green of sculpted cast iron and the vanilla yellow known as the “cornichon” (gherkin).
All of our boxes and paper bags are made in France, as are the silk paper and the Germaine Guérin ribbon. The 100% cotton dust bag that protects our handbags is made in Italy.
