From Doris with love
On January 27, Sotheby’s presented the sale From Doris With Love, dedicated to the personal collection of Doris Brynner. This remarkable auction brought together haute couture pieces, accessories and objects gathered over the course of a life guided by elegance and exacting standards.
The presence of Germaine Guérin creations within Doris Brynner’s wardrobe is a reminder of how chosen, cherished and preserved objects tell an intimate story. Through them emerge silent loyalties, acts of transmission and gestures of memory.
Born in Zagreb in 1931 and later becoming one of the great figures of elegance of her time, Doris Brynner approached the couture houses with a discerning eye. Her wardrobe, spanning Balenciaga, Dior, Givenchy and Valentino, expressed a personal style that was free and decidedly timeless. That Germaine Guérin pieces accompanied a life shaped by encounters and travel represents a precious tribute for the House.
Among the lots presented were several Germaine Guérin creations from this wardrobe. Their presence within such an exceptional collection anchors the House in a history of style that has been lived and preserved across decades.
